Kuchel Contractors 75th Anniversary Kenworth

Completed April 2025

Starting in 1950 with Max and Edna Kuchel, we celebrate our 75th year in business this year! What better way to celebrate than our own anniversary model. Ordered back in June 2022 from Drew at CMV and only coming offline in October 2024, we had plenty of time to plan the finer details to make this a special truck. We decided to build it as a throw back to our kenworth fleet of the 80’s and early 90’s giving it traditional styling and nothing over the top. The first job was to emulate Tony’s stripe work and signature airbrushed murals. Rod Tickle from East Coast Airbrushing was the man for the job having been responsible for the sign writing on our trucks in that era and one of the best airbrush artist in Australia. He was flown down and over a week and worked his magic nailing Tony’s style. We want to thank him again for his efforts. After Rod had done his thing, Royans big dog and weapon on the gun Brannon was called into come lay down a deep layer of PPG clear to get this paint job popping! After the truck was rolled out of the booth the boys in our workshop started the fit up of the interior dynamatting the floor, fitting under seat fridge, bar fridge, microwave and icepack. Next we fitted our rear road train guards, tail light bar, deck plates, hydraulics, painted air cans with mushroom caps, round shrouds, chrome elbows amd 6” stacks, bullet roof lights, horns, beacons and steel red dot cover. Next a Gozbar gull wing fups bar was fitted up front followed by a set of chrome rims and chrome stemco steer caps. After this, the truck was sent down to our good mate Brendan and his team at Bruze Custom Trucks for the fit up of the stainless tank wraps, stainless tank end caps, traditional steps, light panels, visor, painted underbunk trims, one piece 75th Anniversary painted rear bonnet panel and Perspex air cleaner covers. After this, the truck was sent to Winguard to have the bonnet and front tanks ppf wrapped. Finally after all this CMV we’re giving the truck to do the pre delivery check and detail for the hand over. Thanks to Drew and team at CMV for putting in the extra effort on delivery day with the cake, balloons and red carpet, stepping it up from the last delivery with the red bow. (Also thanks to the light council for weeding the garden beds of the seppeltsfeild parking bay the day before i took the photos). So once again, a big thank you to all the talented trades people who had a hand in this build - it’s come out a treat!

75 years is a big milestone and it all wouldn’t be possible without our great staff, past and present, customers, suppliers and friends in the industry. Thank you to all have been apart of our journey so far and into the future.
