We were commissioned by Dawson's Haulage to rebuild their SAR Kenworth after purchasing from Vern Mildren's Family. Vern was the previous owner of the SAR and it was fitted with a Palfinger crane, he began doing deliveries for Nu-Steel Kit Homes & Lysaght. The SAR was reportedly Vern's favourite truck and he affectionally called the SAR "The Old Girl".

This project started in April 2019 where the truck was completely stripped down and cleaned. The projected started where most do, with the fabrication of new chassis rails which were folded and drilled to suit the newly sourced 8 bag rear-end. Once prepped, the cab was sent to the Kuchel paint shop to be painted in Dawson Haulage's colour pallet. 

The exhaust system and turbo was high-temp coated to compliment the chrome Rocker covers. The motor is a fully rebuilt 892T - painted in Dawson green, it was then coupled with a A15 speed overdrive.

New dash panels were laser cut and hydro-dipped to replicate the original wood grain. A retro style blue-tooth KW radio, Pearlcraft gearstick and matching steering wheel were then fitted. 

A new factory-spec KW bull bar was ordered and fitted, along with manufactured new ID plates. The spider hubs were converted to 10 stud.  The brown stud trim was replaced in favour of a new ox-blood diamond trim expertly handcrafted and installed by Steve Baum of Stateside Trim. The project was completed in April of 2022.
