John & Leonie Fraser's LTL
Build completed in 2019
The LTL project for the Fraser's was John's 'dream truck' He had specific requirements and was keen to have them incorporated into this build. The truck originally used to run the Nullarbor in it's first life on the road. At the commencement of the build, John and Leonie were living in Katherine NT. The truck arrived to the depot in the Barossa Valley in August of 2016.
The LTL was a day cab truck, with the request to incorporate a large bunk, a 72" sleeper bunk was sourced from interstate. The roof and doors were the only part of that bunk that were used, the rest was newly fabricated.
The LTL being the age it was, meant that many of the parts needed to be renewed. The manufacturer was no longer in business, so components had to be custom made in-house. Everything was stripped down, the chassis was sandblasted and new inner and outer rails were fabricated and the restoration began.
John decided from early on that he wanted the LTL painted Bugatti Blue, after the truck was painted, it was affectionately known throughout the workshop as "Big Blue"
Darren and Ryan Stewart were responsible for the fabrication of many parts that could not be sourced anywhere else. Nick Baker and Evan Redding ensured the paintwork was completed to the highest standard in the impressive Bugatti Blue. Jordan Kuchel had the large task of commencing with the full re-wire including wiring diagrams designed from scratch. Steve Baum of Stateside Trim also had the mammoth task of constructing 42 aluminium panels before interior upholstery work could even begin, then completed a full custom trim for the LTL.
